Gemini 4 Release Date: Argon Available Since 13 October 2026
Google released Gemini 4 Argon on 13 October 2026 to paid API users and Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers. Who has it, what is limited and what comes next.
versus Editorial · 5 October 2026
Gemini 4 has been available since 13 October 2026, when Google opened Gemini 4 Argon to developers on the paid Gemini API and to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in the Gemini app and AI Mode in Search. On 21 October Argon was still the only Gemini 4 model Google listed, and on versus the prediction Will Google's next Gemini Pro debut at 1,480 or more on Arena by 31 Dec? showed 25.1p for Yes at 08:00 UK time on 21 October 2026.
That price is the market's estimate of a 25.1% chance, not a statement from Google. Earlier predictions on a Gemini 4 release by 31 October and on Argon's Text Arena rank on 19 October are settled. This guide is for readers in Great Britain, and its facts were checked on 21 October 2026.
Who Can Use Gemini 4 Argon
Google first presented Argon in a post dated 30 September 2026, published at 21:00 UK time (BST), when only trusted cyber defenders, early testers and Google's own teams had it. Its launch post, Gemini 4 Argon: Built to solve your hardest problems, went up on 13 October 2026 at 17:00 UK time (BST) and lists these routes:
- Developers: the paid tier of the Gemini API, in Google AI Studio and Android Studio. That day's Gemini API release notes mark gemini-4-argon as generally available.
- Businesses: Gemini for business and Google Cloud, whose Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform release notes show it generally available from 13 October.
- Everyday users: Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, in the Gemini app and AI Mode in Search, with a matching 13 October entry in the UK edition of the Gemini app release notes.
- Google Antigravity: Ultra subscribers and business customers.
- Scientists: 10,000 places, by application and selection, for six months of Antigravity's highest usage tier free of charge.
- Cyber defenders: members of Fairwind, Google DeepMind's scheme for high-priority defenders such as governments, which Google began opening to hundreds more organisations that day.
What Is Still Limited
- No general free route. Google's developer guide to Argon rules out the free tier of the Gemini API, and in the Gemini app and AI Mode Google names only Pro and Ultra subscribers.
- The cyber version. Gemini 4 Argon Cyber Permissive, which Google describes as Argon without its cyber guardrails, is only for approved Fairwind members, who may not share or resell access.
What Google Says Comes Next
Google's launch post ends by looking forward to the rest of the Gemini 4 family, with no sizes or date. On 21 October the Gemini API models page still listed Argon alone under Gemini 4 and still called Gemini 3.8 Flash Google's most intelligent Flash model, so there is no Gemini 4 Flash yet either. The next fixed date is commercial: the introductory API price for Argon runs until 30 November 2026, and from 1 December a standard rate twice as high applies.
How the Two Settled Predictions Were Defined
A public release by 31 October
Will Google release Gemini 4 to the public by 31 Oct? opened on versus on 4 October 2026, and the versus API has shown it as settled since 09:10 UK time (BST) on 14 October 2026. In our own words, it asked whether a model Google calls Gemini 4.0, or the accepted next generation after Gemini 3, would be open to the public, not just to closed testers, by 11:59 pm Eastern Time on 31 October 2026, which is 03:59 UK time (GMT) on 1 November. Google's own information decided; compare the dated posts above with that test.
Argon on Text Arena on 19 October
Will Text Arena rank gemini-4-argon-high first on 19 Oct? rested on one reading of the Text Arena Overall table on arena.ai at noon Eastern Time on 19 October, 17:00 UK time (BST), with style control off (Adjustments set to None), the Models view selected and entries marked AutoEval left out; Yes needed gemini-4-argon-high in first place. The prediction closed at 16:59 UK time, and the versus API has shown it as settled since 17:01 UK time on 19 October 2026.
We cannot reopen the table as it stood then; the version we read on 21 October is dated 20 October 2026. With style control off it lists Gemini 4 Argon (High) first on 1532, ahead of Claude Opus 5.5 (High) on 1516; with style control on, the default view, Argon (High) is also first, on 1524. Arena marks Argon's scores preliminary because they rest on pre-release testing and may still move. Compare them with the answers yourself (see what market resolution means).
Dates to Watch: the Next Gemini Pro by 31 December
Three predictions wait for the next Gemini model whose name includes Pro. Argon's model code, gemini-4-argon, does not, and on 21 October no Google page we checked named a Gemini 4 Pro. Gemini 3.1 Pro Preview, which joined Arena's table in February 2026 and is still the newest Gemini Pro there, scored 1480 with style control off in the table dated 20 October but, already listed, does not count.
Each takes one reading the day after such a model first appears on the scoring site, whatever its earlier availability, and uses the highest score if several qualify that day. If the figure cannot be read at the check, the first later reading counts, and nothing after seven days means No; so does no qualifying model by 11:59 pm Eastern Time on 31 December 2026 (04:59 UK time, GMT, on 1 January 2027). Noon Eastern Time is 17:00 UK time, BST or GMT, except from 25 to 31 October, when it is 16:00 GMT, because New York's clocks change a week after the UK's.
- The 1,480 prediction needs a Score of at least 1,480 in Text Arena Overall, style control off, at noon Eastern Time; it showed 25.1p for Yes.
- The debut score ladder reads the same column at 18:00 Central European time (17:00 UK time), with five thresholds from 1480+ to 1510+, each settled on its own; it showed 25.1p for 1480+ and 19.6p for 1510+.
- The HLE prediction needs an HLE Accuracy of at least 40% in the Humanity's Last Exam results on agi.safe.ai at noon Eastern Time, and a full release of a preview model can count. It showed 28.2p for Yes.
These prices were read at 08:00 UK time on 21 October 2026; separate answers need not add up to 100p, and our arena guide explains the score. Google's Flash line has its own prediction for 31 October, covered in our Gemini Flash 3.9 release date guide.
Before you trade
A price runs from 0p to 100p and is the market's estimate of a chance. A winning contract settles at 100p and a losing one at 0p, so you can lose the whole amount you put into a position. Every prediction names its settling source before you trade. versus adds a 2% transaction fee on top of the stake and shows it before you confirm, and while a market is open you can sell at the current price.
