versus Editorial · 10 October 2026
The 2026 Sense and Sensibility stands at 77% on the Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer, from 106 critic reviews, and has Certified Fresh status, as the film's page showed at 07:15 UK time on 21 October 2026. A copy of that page, saved by the Internet Archive at 15:03 UK time on 19 October, just after the 15:00 reading in the versus prediction "Will the new Sense and Sensibility get 60%+ on Rotten Tomatoes on 19 Oct?", shows 76%, above its 60% line, and at 07:47 UK time on 21 October 2026 the versus page listed the prediction as settled.
We revised this article on 21 October 2026, two days after the reading. It records what the sources show, it is not advice, and it is written for readers in Great Britain.
Which reading counted
Every market on versus names the source that settles it before you trade. This one pointed at a single number: the All Critics Tomatometer on the 2026 film's own Rotten Tomatoes page, the one whose address ends in sense_and_sensibility_2026. A score of 60 or more meant Yes, and 59 or less meant No. Earlier adaptations, the 1995 film among them, did not count, whatever their own pages show. The page itself was the deciding source, and news reports could only back up what it showed.
The moment was 10:00 am Eastern Time on Monday 19 October 2026. New York was still on daylight saving time, which NIST says runs until 1 November in 2026, and the UK stays on British Summer Time until the clocks go back on 25 October, according to gov.uk, so the reading fell at 15:00 UK time. The rules also covered a page with no score at that moment: the first score to appear afterwards would have counted, and with none by 11:59 pm Eastern Time on Friday 23 October (04:59 UK time on Saturday 24 October), the answer would have been No.
What the page showed at 15:00
The film's page on Rotten Tomatoes shows the score as it stands, not the score at a past moment. The closest record we found is a copy of the page that the Internet Archive saved at 15:03:40 UK time on 19 October, under four minutes after the time in the rules. It shows an All Critics Tomatometer of 76% from 99 reviews, 75 positive and 24 negative. That is 75.8%, which the page rounds to 76%, and the copy also lists the film as Certified Fresh.
A copy kept by a third party is not the page itself, so we treat it as the nearest evidence, not as the reading. Set against the question, 76% is above the 60% line.
The page on 21 October
At 07:15 UK time on 21 October 2026 the page counted 106 reviews, 82 positive and 24 negative: 77.4%, shown as 77%. Since the 19 October copy, the count has gone from 99 to 106 and the positive reviews from 75 to 82, while the negative ones stayed at 24. Two other scores sit on the same page, and neither counted: Top Critics at 76% from 41 reviews, and the Popcornmeter, the audience score, at 89% from what the page calls 250+ verified ratings.
Rotten Tomatoes' About page, read on 21 October 2026, calls a film Fresh when at least 60% of its reviews are positive, the same line as the prediction, and Rotten below that. Certified Fresh is a separate status: a score of 75% or higher with at least five reviews from Top Critics, and at least 80 reviews for a film in wide release, which is how the film's page lists this one. On 10 October, with 40 reviews, the page did not show that status, as we noted then; on 21 October it does. The prediction never depended on it.
Dates in UK time
- Friday 25 September 2026: the film opened in UK cinemas, according to the UK site of Focus Features, the distributor Rotten Tomatoes lists.
- Friday 16 October 2026: the US theatrical release, the date Rotten Tomatoes and the Focus Features US site give, three days before the reading.
- Monday 19 October 2026, 15:00 UK time (10:00 am Eastern Time): the reading. The score shown at that moment was the one that counted, whatever it had been before or became after.
- Monday 19 October 2026, 15:08 UK time: the settlement, as versus records it.
- Tuesday 20 October 2026, 00:59 UK time (23:59 UTC on 19 October): the end date on the prediction page.
No date still to come changes this prediction. The Tomatometer will keep moving as reviews arrive, but a later score is not part of it.
For the next score prediction
- The moment decides. This page showed 78% from 40 reviews on 10 October, 76% from 99 just after the reading and 77% from 106 two days later. Only the score at the reading time counts.
- Check which number the rules name. Here only the All Critics score counted; the Popcornmeter, 12 points higher on 21 October, did not.
- Early scores move most. With 40 reviews, each one is 2.5% of the total; with 99, about 1%.
Our guide to Rotten Tomatoes score predictions covers the general mechanics, and what market resolution means explains how a prediction settles.
Before you trade
This prediction is settled, so there is nothing left to trade on it. On any open prediction you can lose the whole amount you put into a position: a losing contract settles at 0p, and a price is only the market's estimate at one moment. A 2% transaction fee is added on top of the stake and shown before you confirm, you can sell while the market is open, and your loss can never exceed what you put in. versus is licensed by the UK Gambling Commission (account 101143, see its public register).
